The aforementioned are all artists that I’ll be playing tracks by tomorrow night on the wireless. Inside Splinters returns to Geelong & Melbourne radio waves in a live-to-air manner, after a few (hem hem) weeks away from the microphone. This Friday night from 8pm till 10pm, join myself (Adem Ali – hey that’s me!) and co-host Libby Marshall for good music, pointless banter, and liberal on-air sprinklings of the word “cooch.”

We’ll also be joined on air by Ben for another one of his hilarious Celebrity History Lessons. Fridays return also sees the introduction of the Hot 8 @ 8 countdown, which will be compiled by myself, those affiliated with the show and a couple of our loyal listeners each and every week. Tune into 94.7 FM this Friday evening from 8pm for all of this… I’d promise you more but, let’s be realistic here, you’re lucky we’ve even returned.

For those who are wondering what happened to the radio show uploads, hit me up with an email. They’re still being made available, just not on the website.

Axle’s Whitehead.

Phwoar.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

That’s a full stream of my interview from last week with Axle Whitehead. In the interview we discuss his upcoming album, taking time off, why Avril Lavigne is a cunt, stripping off for the gays and – the topic I enjoyed the ‘moist’ (DO YOU SEE WHAT I DID THERE?!) – his cock ‘n balls.

You can also download – via RapidShare – the interview if you wish. Link here.

Axle’s brilliant debut single, “I Don’t Do Surprises,” is released this Saturday the 8th of March. You should definitely buy it from either iTunes, Sanity, or one of those novel record stores (!) in your nearby shopping mall.  You can also buy the very-nice-on-the-eyes video clip, again over at iTunes.

Oh, hello there…

Radio Don’t Wanna Do This.

Australian radio is snubbing the aces new Divinyls single Don’t Wanna Do This. I guess if you’re not making faux-Jesus rock (Nickelback, Evanescence, Hinder) or your name isn’t Pink then there’s really fuck all chance of getting anything new you’ve put together on radio is there? Does that really mean my weekly radio show on Friday nights is the ONLY program playing the new single on a regular basis, if at all? Somewhat surprising.

You know, you’d think that Australian radio networks would get behind such local Rock music royalty as Divinyls; and it’s not like the song wouldn’t mesh well with their playlists. This is a rock track that is incredibly radio friendly, whilst still retaining the original dirt and grime we’ve come to love about Divinyls. So is it this obvious growth and evolution as artists that the networks are scared of? What possible explanation could they have for ignoring a classic song like this? Divinyls have just finished up a massively successful tour of Australia, playing dates across the nation and headlining Sydney’s Homebake Music Festival and Melbourne’s Hot BBQ, with crowds arriving in droves to watch them rock out. So what’s the problem?

When such a high-class act as Divinyls release something new that is of such an excellent quality, you would sort of expect radio to get behind it. It’s the Divinyls for crying out loud! They gave us Boys In Town, Science Fiction, I Touch Myself, Siren, I’m Jealous… the list of quality genuine radio hits these guys have produced over the years reads like a best-in-Australian-rock music countdown. I understand that just because an iconic artist releases something new shouldn’t automatically mean their new stuff becomes a radio darling, but in the cases when it’s new and this good, then the question here is why AREN’T they playing it?

If you’re in Oz, and you want Australian radio to get behind the new Divinyls single, then there are a couple of things you can do.

First of all, head on over to the Facebook group’s “Temperamental Aussie Divinyls Fans” and “No the Divinyls were NOT just one-hit wonders you fuckwit” and join them. Let’s expand the Divinyl online community as much as we possibly can in the lead up to this years possible new album release.

Then, Contact your local radio station, and start HAMMERING them with requests for Don’t Wanna Do This. If they start getting requests, they might actually try and locate the dusty promo CD they were sent back in November and give it a few whirls.

Special thanks to Loretta and Derek who got in touch with me regarding this campaign. To help them along with the cause, I’ve put together this list of radio and television media links and phone numbers which you can get busy requesting with.

The Radioshack.

Yes, it’s a new site! Details on why/etcetera here

I’m now 3 files behind with uploading my weekly radio show Inside Splinters for you.  Whoops.  Finalising everything for the new website took up so much of my time last week that I completely forgot to catch up, so now watch me pump out two of the three shows for you in the one week.  On todays podcast, I speak with Kaz James, the good looking, non-singing one from Bodyrockers (remember I Like The Way You Move and Round Round?)  Granted, I was never a fan of those guys, but his upcoming solo stuff sounds fantastic and the interview sees Kaz give away a lot of juicy gossip, including personal stories involving Madonna, his thoughts on Girls Aloud and sunset seeing with Kate Moss

SugaSoundsBitches!

I am completely in love with Miss Connie from Sneaky Sound System. Isn’t she just one of the most staggering pop stars in the history of music? My love for this woman runs incredibly deep, so I’m quite excited by the news that work is sending me off to see her and the Sound System crew put on a nice, pretty live show this Saturday night at the god-awful Festival Hall in Melbourne. Even the venue cannot bring down my high! What I’m even more excited about is seeing Van She – one of my most loved Australian groups of all time – play as the Sneaky’s support on the night. Viva la Van She!

The picture up above is photographic evidence of the best dress at last weeks ARIA awards, worn by Miss Connie. It is also photographic evidence of the best performance of the night.

I’m sure most of you will take my word for it, but you should still watch it for yourself.

Magic. When I grow up, I want to be just like Miss Connie.

Speaking of live shows, this coming Thursday night I’m off to see Robyn AGAIN in Melbourne. She just cannot get enough of us sexual (guffaw!) Aussies it seems! For those keen, she is playing at Roxanne, which is behind Billboard Nightclub in the CBD. I’m very excited, as Roxanne is a slightly bigger venue than the incredibly intimate feel we had the other month for her gig at the tiny Miss Libertines. Will have a full report on that next week.

Stop whatever it is you’re doing right now (unless the only thing you are doing right now is reading this post, in which case I’d advise you actually keep doing it.) There is a new remix of a Sugababes song which I think you should download. Remember the cheesy Ultrabeat remix of the underrated and completely ace Easy from last year? Well, Ultrabeat have managed to top that effort with a completely popperific version of About You Now. It’s cheesy, it’s loud, it’s probably going to be seriously offensive to most of you – but I love it. I was driving down the highway last night at an ungodly hour, alone in my car and on the road, with the windows down and this turned up ridiculously loud. It made me very happy. Now you can maybe be as happy as I!

And finally, if you’re in or around the Geelong area tomorrow night, tune into 94.7 The Pulse from 8pm till 10pm for my radio show Inside Splinters. On the musical menu tomorrow; Young Divas, Trash Fashion, Bloc Party, Kylie Minogue, Sneaky Sound System, Robyn, M.I.A, Daft Punk, Dannii Minogue, Justice, The Toxic Avenger, Bertine Zetlitz, Cut Copy, and many more. Hopefully I won’t fuck up too much…

Anyways, I’m on a mini-break until Tuesday so, unless something incredibly dramatic happens and I desperately need to blog about it – I won’t be back till then. (Apologies for the long break in between posts of late – I’ve been so busy with uni and family stuff – it’s been a bit crazy down at the residence of Adem. Back to norm next week, I promise. Kthxbye.)

Dance Classics

Almost two weeks ago I threw together a dance classics edition of my weekly radio show, Inside Splinters. It’s a regular thing I’ve incorporated into the show and happens on the last Friday of every month. The following podcast is a recording of the show from the 26th of October which – hilariously – was the last Friday of that month, and spawned the very first visit into the Inside Splinters time machine.

Pretty much every single one of these songs is a personal favourite; some of them haven’t aged well but that’s besides the point. They were great at the time, and the memories are still there. Anyways, this recording also includes a live telephone conversation between myself and the delightful Paul from The Zapping, which is worth the download alone really.

The Midweek Hump.

Sorry for the absence this week, I’ve been feverishly busy putting together a mammoth assignment for my New Communications class at Uni on music piracy. My brain is incredibly drained but my essay completely kicks arse (fuck it, I’ve worked my butt off on this one so I reckon tooting my own horn is completely justified,) so now I can concentrate on faffing about on here, planning the upcoming shows and taking a well earned 3 WEEKS OFF BEFORE EXAMS.

First of all, RSS FEED. I finally have that all sorted out so you can now add it to whatever it is you add it to:
http://www.imalwaysright.co.uk/rss.xml

Very good.

On another note, I’ll put up the Inside Splinters Dance Classics Edition MP3 up on Monday. My uploading schedule seems to be going in this direction so I figured I’ll just keep it going that way. After each show on Friday, 10 days later it’ll be up on here. Make sense? No, not for me either.

I’ve been watching Private Practice during my time away from the hollows of study. I’m no Grey’s Anatomy fan (never watched it, never will,) but this is GREAT. My imaginary boyfriend Chris Lowell stars in it (pictured) along with Judging Amy and a few other interesting people. But now I’m disappointed, simply because I’ve watched all five episodes that are available of the show and now have no interest in watching anything else. Ho hum.

Did any of you (fellow Australians) see The Librarian’s which started tonight on the ABC? Absolute hoot, I love it. There’s nothing more entertaining than uncomfortable and completely offensive comedy. Filling the shoes of Summer Heights High is quite a task, but this is certainly shaping up to be one of the best Aussie shows this year…

The new Divinyls single, Don’t Wanna Do This, is a triumph and DOES NOT SUCK. Thank Christ for that. I’ll be playing it this Friday on the show so if you’re around Geelong/Melbourne, tune into 94.7 for a listen. Speaking of, that promised Divinyls mega-post is on its way.

I THINK A BLOGERATI POST IS COMING SOON.
