Happy Birthday! Here’s A Kitten.

Happy Blogging Birthday to me!

*UPDATE: YOU CAN LEAVE COMMENTS NOW. THANKS POSTER GIRL!*

Today marks 1 year since I opened Adem With An E. It also marks my 6th year of blogging in general, with the other 5 of those 6 years dedicated to my old site I’m Always Right (which you’ll now find the majority of its posts have since been migrated over here.) Ayye! As a sort of birthday present to myself, with thanks to my amazing best friend Stefan Nott (aka: Graphic Design God), I now have a new looking website to unleash upon you all. I really hope you like it; I absolutely love it and am so stoked with what Stef has poured blood, sweat and tears over. Particularly so when you take into consideration the amount of times I emailed him about changing a single picture, or adding another one… I can safely assume no one is more relieved it is all finally over than he is.

That said, I hope you enjoy the new look. There may be a few glitches if you’re using IE6 but, quite frankly, if you haven’t upgraded to IE7 or IE8 yet, that’s really not my problem (IE6 users will notice  the content in the sidebar is all the way at the bottom of the page…) Of course, there may actually be some glitches in general whatever you’re using; please bare with me whilst I sort it all out…

I’ll be popping up a bevvy of interviews this week and a few other special surprises, so keep coming back as the week progresses for prolonged birthday fun.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any actual birthday treats (other than the hot new site) to share with you all, so instead, here is a very recent (not even a fortnight old) video of Van She and New Young Pony Club being interviewed whilst in Germany. Please note; any of you upset by Matt Van Schie’s switch to brown hair will be pleased to see it’s now back to blonde.

Hem Hem.

Will more than likely be a bit quiet this week too, sorry guys. I am seriously being shafted at both ends in the most horrid of ways with work and other crap that I just don’t have much time this week to blog.

Come back on (AU) Saturday or (EU/US/ET CETERA) Friday for something that will hopefully make up for the silence.

Busy. BRAINS.

Sorry for the lack in updates. Between work, uni, following the US election and contemplating the art of zombie fan fiction, I’ve been pretty swamped. Back to normal next week. In the meantime, here’s a lovely picture of Davina McCall as a Zombie.

NOM NOM NOM.

Back To Normal Next Week.

Ugh.

It’s been one of the most hectic, frustrating, stressful, mind-boggling, dramatic and — at times — traumatic weeks of the year. It’s just been really taxing on me mentally and physically, particularly after some ghastly crap on Monday which kicked off my week in the most awful of ways. My mind just hasn’t been in any shape to focus on writing at all, even though I have a number of things to talk about. But I should be all fine come Monday.

In the meantime, here is a lovely picture I took of Lady GaGa on Saturday.

Well. Maybe not so lovely.

Vaneater.

My love of Van She thickens/hardens (ooh-err, et cetera) this week with the announcement of the Van She Party; and 11 date party-tour which begins in Brisbane on the 4th of July and ends on the 26th in Adelaide. If you’re interested in checking out the full tour date schedule (and would like to buy tickets,) click on this bit of the interwebs. So how many of you will I be seeing at the July 18th show being held at Melbourne’s Prince Bandroom?

June 21st marks the release of the hotly anticipated single “Strangers” (artwork pictured to the left) from the boys. This is still some days away so if you’re sick of my Van She ramblings of late, you might want to stay away for a while because not only will I be reminding you of the single release the week it hits shelves, the year is pretty much assigned to seriously annoying levels of Van She devotion over on these parts. “Strangers” is still very much my song of the year thus far and seems to have earwormed its way into the iPod’s of others as well which really pleases me. Triple J and a lot of community broadcasters are giving the song the support it so richly deserves but, criminally, commercial radio hasn’t touched it. Baffling. Anywho, here’s the CD single tracklisting;

01. “Strangers” (Radio Version) 3:35
02. “Strangers” (Yuksek Remix) 4:37
03. “Strangers” (Strip Steve Remix) 5:59
04. “Strangers” (Van She Tech Rework) 3:49
05. “Strangers” (VIDEO) 3:41

Incredible. And then once the single is released, it will be LESS THAN 2 MONTHS before the album. August the 9th peoples; that’s the OFFICIAL release date for the boys’ debut album “V.” You have no idea how excited I am about this. Three years in the making, we’re finally going to get that full length record. Come late July, you just know I’ll be camping out by my letterbox waiting for that shiny and new promo copy to arrive. Hint fucking hint.

Went to see Cut Copy live on Thursday and the We Love Sounds music festival on Saturday. Caught The Bravery (amazing!) and Utah Saints (!!!) among many others. Great nights out; will hopefully do a little piece on them soon.

It does seem that every second post these days I’m apologising for something, and today is no exception. Tomorrow may have been four days ago, but it’s better late than never I guess so sorry. Things have been rather… bizarre of late. I caused some serious damage to my ankle (again; this time it was the other one) two weeks ago and have been knee-high in new subjects for uni, which is on top of the monotonous 9 – 5 job I have, plus the Forte Magazine stuff. I’m going to be making a conscious effort to spend more time on the site again over the coming weeks; it’s just been a bit tougher for this first half of 2008.

And on that note; can you believe we are already halfway through the year? Far out…

Don’t Hold Onto The Past.

Apologies for the lack of updates; and it’s going to stay just as quiet around here until after the weekend. Am gearing up for what is going to be a mega-sad remains-of-the-week and will more than likely be away from the computer until Monday.

In 24 hours time, two of my dearest friends will have boarded a plane as they head into the sunset of their new lives overseas for, at least, 2 years. Which, for me, who sees them nearly every weekend, is practically like forever. =(

Matt & Stef; in the spirit of our friendship, I’ll miss you cunts.
